Renting a car is now a must, not an option, when you go to Jeju Island. In fact, during the COVID-19 period, the price of rental cars went up so much that it was cheaper to take your own car to Jeju Island. As a result of renting a rental car on a trip to Jeju Island on June 8 and 9 this year, it was similar to the price before Corona.

2. Rent Car Reservation Confirmation and Precautions

A. Insurance selection

I made a reservation with a regular car with the goal of never causing an accident because I had more than five years of experience in commuting by car and driving long distances. However, if you are inexperienced in driving or have anxiety about accidents, we recommend that you sign an insurance contract above the full car.


In particular, Jeju Island is an area where many inexperienced drivers rent, so you should pay attention to driving itself. Also, since the topography itself is a place with many stones, there are many accidents caused by the topography in addition to accidents between vehicles, so please always be careful.

B. Set the reservation time

You must set the reservation start time and the reservation end time. It is best to set the reservation start and end times according to your flight time. To show you how to set it all the time, the reservation start time is set to 1 hour after the arrival time of the plane. Generally, except when the flight is delayed, it is set to 1 hour after considering the waiting time for baggage and travel to the rental place.

The reservation end time is set at least 2 hours before the flight departure time. Actually, 2 hours is not enough, so I recommend you to move based on the flight time, not the rental time. Just like when you arrive, you should consider the time to return to Jeju Airport and check-in and check-in at the airport, so we recommend you arrive at least three hours in advance.

3. Rent Car Acquisition and Rental Guide

A. After arriving at the airport, go to Gate 5

After arriving at Jeju Airport, I'm going to pick up Gate 5. Gate 5 is when you go through the formalities and walk straight to the right. After crossing the crosswalk in front of Gate 5, follow the passage on the right to the rental car house. I made a reservation at Camoa this time, so I got a reminder message a few hours before I received and returned it.

B. Shuttle boarding (No. 1 seat in Area 8)

You can take the bus with the rainbow shuttle bus logo on it. The shuttle bus runs every 10-15 minutes, but please note that if the shuttle bus is full, you have to take the next bus. The actual travel time was less than 10 minutes away.

Caution: If you do not have a license, you must check your license at the self-governing police unit in the airport office before boarding the shuttle to rent a vehicle.

C. receive and return of vehicle

In the past, it was a method of drawing a number ticket and writing a contract to an employee, but when I visited this time, I confirmed that it was all changed to a kiosk. You can fill out the contract in order in the kiosk and move to the vehicle to take over. When you receive the vehicle, make sure to check the inside and outside of the vehicle and take pictures and videos. You should also take photos of the inside and outside and of the fuel.

This is because you have to fill up the amount of existing fuel when you return it later. I refueled to fill the existing fuel volume, but the fuel volume was a little insufficient, so an additional charge of 5,000 won was incurred. If the flight is too tight, please note that there is a way to pay an additional fee even if you don't refuel.

The interior of the car was also neat for a rental car that was more than five years old, and I was very satisfied with this use, so I made a reservation with a rainbow rental car when I went to Jeju Island again in September. In terms of price, the advantage is that the cost-effectiveness is very good compared to other rental car companies.

If I have to choose a disadvantage, the navigation system was not updated, so I ended up looking at the navigation system on my phone. We don't have a separate cell phone holder, so if you're a beginner who rented a car from a rainbow rental car, it'd be good to bring a cell phone holder. Also, please note that there is also a souvenir shop.
